Cold Storage Japan is pioneering this change with two innovative cold storage solutions—the Coldstorage Box and the Coldstorage Box Portable.
Coldstorage Box is a container-type facility designed to comply with building permit applications. It can be used to construct small-scale food processing facilities, providing a convenient solution for businesses needing on-site storage space for perishable goods.
Coldstorage Box Portable is a trailer-type cold storage unit that can be towed without requiring a driver with a CDL. It functions as a fully operational mobile cold storage facility. This feature makes it ideal for transporting medicines, vegetables, and while maintaining the required temperature.
“Our multipolar, interconnected small cold storage units have the potential to revolutionize the handling of perishable products worldwide by reducing waste, expanding business opportunities for producers, and providing consumers with more fresh food options,” says Daigo Goto, president of Cold Storage Japan.
The next-gen cold chain offers value and benefits to regions lacking effective cold storage options by becoming the behind-the-scenes logistics segment that supports multiple industries.
All solutions optimize temperature control during transportation. This ensures that the goods remain fresh and high-quality throughout the delivery process. A freshness retention technology is implemented, which further aids in preserving the quality of the stored food items.
A sales and inventory management system, IoCube, was created to streamline operations and inventory management. This system allows for centralized inventory management, giving businesses greater control and efficiency.
Installing containers in production areas enables producers to sell directly to consumers. This reduces distribution time, facilitating the provision of higher-quality products. The containers make it feasible to ship products to remote islands, mountainous regions, and other previously inaccessible areas for refrigerated distribution. This opens the door to the distribution of products that would otherwise spoil during long, non-climate-controlled shipping.
In a recent project in Rwanda an off grid refrigerated warehouse was constructed of containers, to store and distribute vegetables. Waste was reduced, and growers’ income was boosted by maintaining a consistent temperature during the storage and transportation of vegetables. Similarly, businesses that previously struggled to secure refrigerated storage space in Japan, particularly in suburban areas, are now able to attain their own Coldstorage Box. It has empowered enterprises to overcome challenges and achieve controlled distribution of their products.
Cold Storage Japan advances the next-gen cold chain, developing logistics systems and collaborating with other companies to enhance transportation and storage solutions for perishable goods.
