Companies with key third-party logistics provider agreements are rethinking their supply chains to put the consumer first
FREMONT, CA: Companies are at a tipping point with their old supply chains and are striving to reimagine their business models with supplier networks that generate sustainable competitive advantage. It requires an environment where shippers can employ partner platforms and services to accelerate collaboration and transparency across the value chain. Shippers of all sizes seek solutions to boost supply chain network robustness, enhance transparency, and move toward sustainable operations.
Through strategic partnerships, critical skill needs can serve by better leveraging the deep expertise that the 3PLs hold, essentially "borrowing" them on demand by layering both business and 3PL resources into a shared operating model that delivers wins for the company, wins for the 3PL, and ultimately wins for the customer. These new ways of working will spur growth and creativity. 3PLs are expanding their service offerings to become end-to-end providers as they move toward more profound, transparent collaborations.
It includes closer interactions with 3PL service providers and creating strategic alliances.
Rethink networks: Many organizations' disruptive responses are complicated and complex. Aligning supply with demand by employing tools, physical networks, and assets has transformed from a regulated science to a magic trick. Needing juggling needs to manage the daily bombardment of disturbances affecting global value chains. More organizations are rethinking and reimagining their supply networks to enable growth. This shift from a set of functional skills, often loosely patched together, to a customer-focused, resilient, and sustained competitive advantage. 3PLs must rebuild global value chains in this way.
Cloud data: Strong integration is needed to unleash the total value of a 3PL relationship and improve supply chain understanding. Cloud technology allows decoupled systems to share data and analytics in real time, providing end-to-end supply chain insight. Cloud capabilities lessen the impact of old strategies that restrict investment in developing technology—increasing enterprises' internal and external connectivity. Supply chain networks are rich in data. Data's usefulness lies in enabling decisions and predicting consequences. It is challenging if data is stored in different systems, is hard to consolidate, and lacks business-wide connections.
